Job Summary
TSMC Arizona seeks Construction Process Piping Technicians to install, maintain, and troubleshoot semiconductor process piping systems, including Ultra-Pure Water, plastic, gas, and chemical delivery systems, in advanced cleanroom environments.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain semiconductor process piping systems, ensuring proper routing, secure connections, and adherence to cleanroom contamination protocols.
- Cut, thread, and join pipe using welding, brazing, compression fittings, and other techniques.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Conduct leak, pressure testing, and inspections to verify functionality and safety.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as utility alignment and leak detection.
- Perform material handling, equipment setup, and workspace cleanup per safety and cleanliness standards.
- Maintain accurate records of installations and inspections for project documentation.
- Collaborate with other trades and engineering teams to integrate systems.
- Participate in on‑job training and classroom instruction to develop skills.
- Lead teams, coordinate material shortages, monitor installation quality, plan daily activities, mentor staff, and ensure regulatory compliance (for experienced candidates).
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred experience in process piping installation and maintenance; requirements vary by level.
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to follow instructions, and ability to follow cleanroom protocols.
- Proficiency in routing and securing pipes, interpreting technical drawings, and pipe joining techniques (welding, brazing, compression).
- Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom standards and piping installation protocols.
- For advanced levels: knowledge of gas, chemical, plastic, UPW installation and pressure testing, risk assessment, leadership, organizational skills, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication, listening, teamwork, and leadership (for higher levels).
- Physical ability: lift up to 35 lbs, work on ladders/lifts, tight spaces; stand or walk for significant portions of the day; frequent grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, or reaching.
- Willingness to travel overseas for extended training; willingness to support international projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Welding or brazing certification.
- Experience in a semiconductor cleanroom environment.
- Prior supervisory or management experience for senior positions.
Shift Expectations
TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. The position requires working any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off one week, then 3 days on, 4 days off the next week. Each shift is 12 hours (6 AM–6 PM or 6 PM–6 AM). Night shift rotations are no more than 4 months per calendar year. Initial training is Monday–Friday.
