Job summary

M/I Homes, a national homebuilder with a Columbus presence, is seeking a Permitting Coordinator to support the plans and permit process. You will manage permitting workflows for houses, model homes, and offices, review and assemble plan sets, and coordinate ARB submissions with field staff and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates have construction/homebuilding experience, strong communication skills, and attention to detail to ensure timely permit approvals and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in homebuilding or construction required.
• Experience reading and reviewing construction plans.
• Experience reading and reviewing plot plans highly desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to support workflow.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the construction permitting process for houses and model homes.
• Track weekly reviews at municipalities and coordinate plan sets.
• Assemble and mark-up plans for permitting and field staff.
• Review plot plans and permitting documents for accuracy.
• Process sales paperwork and change orders related to permitting.
• Coordinate ARB submittals and approvals as needed.
• Create weekly starts packages and maintain filing systems.
• Prepare check requests for permits and pay re-inspection fees.
• Order liens and update Starts Report and related tracking reports.
• Assist with additional tasks from Plans and Permit Manager or VP.
