Job summary

Tri-State Drilling is seeking a Payroll Specialist to administer and process payroll for Tri-State Drilling, Tri-State Rebar, Three Peaks Drilling, T3 Resources and T3 Fleet Services. The role supports field and office employees and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, unions, and prevailing wage regulations.

The position reports to the Senior Accountant and is based in Plymouth, MN, offering growth opportunities within the finance team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or a similar industry.
• Strong knowledge of payroll and ERP systems, Spectrum or CIMC strongly preferred
• Understanding of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience with union payroll and multi-state payroll processing.
• Familiarity with construction, job costing, and project-based payroll.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly scheduled payrolls and off cycle payrolls for hourly and salaried employees across multiple entities with accurate records and documentation.
• Review time records, job/cost codes, pay rates, deductions, and reimbursements for accuracy and completeness.
• Process authorized payroll deductions (benefits, garnishments, union deductions, etc.).
• Support payroll adjustments, corrections, and other payroll transactions.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports and support documentation for audits and compliance.
