Job summary

DLZ Corporation in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Construction Inspection Observer to perform field inspection, record data, and coordinate testing for civil projects. You will interpret plans, maintain safety, and generate field reports.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree or equivalent with related experience; INDOT/NICET qualifications are preferred, with ability to obtain within 6–12 months. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, plus 2 years related experience, or High School Diploma with 5 years related experience.
• Certifications such as compaction, asphalt, concrete, aggregate or others.
• INDOT Construction Inspection Prequalification preferred, or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• NICET Highway Construction Level II or higher preferred, or ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• Experience with INDOT or municipal inspection preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all phases of field assignment to obtain and record accurate and complete data.
• Interpret specifications, working drawings and convey intent to the contractor.
• Basic testing, testing coordination, equipment and equipment maintenance.
• Perform all aspects of field inspection.
• Record daily field data and generate field reports.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment for each job.

DLZCorporation currently has Construction Inspection / Observer openings in Indianapolis, IN.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform all phases of field assignment to obtain and record accurate and complete data.
• Interpret specifications, working drawings and convey intent to the contractor.
• Basic testing, testing coordination, equipment and equipment maintenance.
• Perform all aspects of field inspection.
• Obtain field data as required by the plans and specifications or project staff.
• Recordall obtained field data accurately and in a legible and organized fashion.
• Perform testing and sampling.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment as required for each job.
• Work with project staff in charge of project on design changes.
• Communicate with all involved entities to keep everyone fully informed.
• Generate and compile all field reports.
• Record daily installed construction quantities to review payment requests in terms of progress and amount completed to date.
• Understand the public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in the proper safety procedures.
• Performother duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree (in applicable field), plus 2 years related experience, or
• High School Graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
