Job summary

Dulles Engineering, Inc. is seeking field technicians to perform testing and inspection on active construction sites across the DMV region. You will work outdoors with soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, generating accurate reports and documentation for project teams.

Ideal candidates have construction materials testing experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel between sites. Training, safety, and opportunities for career growth are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Dulles Engineering, Inc. is a DMV-based engineering firm providing geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and special inspection services. Established in 2017 and operating an AASHTO-accredited laboratory in Sterling, Virginia, we support the region's most significant infrastructure projects — including work for MWAA, VDOT, DDOT, and DC Water, alongside leading prime contractors.

What You’ll Do

• Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates on active construction sites
• Conduct sampling and testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and VDOT specifications
• Operate nuclear density gauges and other field testing equipment
• Complete and submit daily field reports and project documentation within 48 hours
• Communicate test results and site observations to project managers and clients
• Coordinate with contractors, agency inspectors, and project teams on site
• Maintain and care for assigned testing equipment

Required

• Experience in construction materials testing, field inspection, or related construction experience
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel between job sites
• Ability to lift and carry testing equipment and work on active construction sites
• Strong attention to detail and reliable documentation habits

Preferred

• Degree or coursework in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
• ACI Field Testing Technician, Grade I
• VDOT Soil & Aggregate Certification
• Nuclear Gauge Safety and Hazmat Training
• Experience on VDOT, MWAA, DDOT, or other public agency projects
