Job summary

Three Notch Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to join our growing team. The CMT Technician will perform field observations, materials testing, and documentation to ensure quality and compliance on construction projects.

Responsibilities include reading plans, conducting testing across various site types, documenting results, and communicating findings to project teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• 2–5 years of construction or construction materials testing experience.
• Familiarity with construction inspection and field testing procedures.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician I, NICET, ICC Certifications, and DOT certifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction plans, geotechnical reports, project specs, and codes.
• Perform field observations, testing, and inspections on various construction projects.
• Monitor contractor activities and document conformity with plans and standards.
• Conduct materials testing and inspections during site grading, compaction, concrete and rebar work, and asphalt placement.
• Prepare field reports, test summaries, and inspection documentation.
• Communicate results and recommendations to project teams.
• Maintain testing equipment and safety on active sites.
