Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services (HCCS) seeks a Project Manager in its Washington, DC office to oversee construction materials testing for mixed-use development projects.

The role requires 3–5 years of PM/field experience in geotechnical testing, strong client communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. ESOP culture and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred.
• 3–5 years of field or project management experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, or Construction Project Management preferred.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1–3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing projects for commercial and residential land development.
• Coordinate, supervise, review, and direct technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Perform on-site inspections including soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and participate in site meetings as necessary.

We are seeking a Project Manager in our Washington, D.C. office. Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.

Assignments will include management of construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects. Construction materials testing project duties will include management, coordination, supervision, review, and direction of technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement construction testing.
