Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services (HCCS) in Washington, DC is seeking a Project Manager to lead construction materials testing for commercial and residential land development. You will manage, coordinate, and supervise technician staff across earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS and pavement testing while preparing bids and attending pre-bid meetings.

On-site inspections, client meetings, and site coordination are core duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology preferred.
• 3-5 years of field or project management experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, or Construction Project Management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).
• Perform other duties as required to assist the Branch Manager in running a successful operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
• Coordinate, supervise, review and direct technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Conduct on-site project inspections including soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings as necessary.
