Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA) is seeking a Project Manager for our Frederick, MD office. The role entails managing construction materials testing for land development projects, coordinating technician staff, and preparing bids.

On-site inspections include soil bearing, compaction, and concrete/steel testing, with client meetings as needed. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or geology, 3–5 years of PM experience in

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or geology is preferred.
• 3–5 years of field or project management experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or construction project management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).
• Perform other duties as required to assist the Branch Manager in running a successful operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
• Coordinate, supervise, review, and direct technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement construction testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Efficiently perform on-site project inspections including soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings, as necessary.

We are seeking a Project Manager in our Frederick, MD office. Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.
