Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Supervisor or Senior Laboratory Technician for a long-term mine project in Bagdad, Arizona. The role involves performing standard soil, concrete, and aggregate tests, calibrating equipment, and maintaining meticulous lab data and accreditation.

The candidate should have 4+ years in laboratory testing, strong communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in laboratory testing for soils, concrete, aggregate and/or asphalt.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong work ethic.
• Must have a current valid driver’s license.
• Supervision experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard CMT tests (proctors, sieves, Atterberg, Compression, Sampling, splitting).
• Calibrate equipment and maintain accurate lab data and documentation.
• Maintain lab accreditation and certify equipment; manage laboratory supplies and maintenance.
• Provide clear communication with Project Manager on lab operations and project records; supervise staff when assigned.

Job description

Job Description: We have an immediate opening for a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Supervisor or Senior Laboratory Technician for a long-term project at a mine in Bagdad, Arizona. The successful candidate will perform standard laboratory test methods including proctors, sieves, Atterberg Limits, Compression, Sampling, and splitting of samples. Duties also include calibrating equipment, maintaining proper and complete laboratory data, lab certification and maintenance, maintaining/purchasing equipment, supervision of a small team of field and/or lab technicians (when hired; this is a new office), clear communications with the Office or Project Manager regarding all aspects of the laboratory operations including providing of neat and orderly project documentations. Also responsible for obtaining and maintaining lab accreditation.

Required Skills: The successful candidate should have 4+ years of experience in laboratory testing for soils, concrete, aggregate and/or asphalt, Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Must have a current valid driver’s license. Supervision experience a plus, but not required.

Required Certifications: Must have ACI Strength, ATTI Soils and Aggregate, ACI Field and MSHA certifications.

Location: Bagdad, AZ but can be based out of our Tucson, Safford, Phoenix, or Prescott, AZ office
