Job summary

ECS Southeast, LLP invites a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level 2 to join our Field and Lab teams in Savannah, GA. You will assist with routine soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials testing under senior guidance, while expanding knowledge of construction practices and testing standards.

The role emphasizes data collection, documentation, and professional conduct, with opportunities to gain certifications and experience in project workflows in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• One required certification must be completed within 90 days; all basic certifications within 270 days (e.g., Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I).
• Must be able to lift up to 85 pounds repeatedly and have a valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation and testing under supervision.
• Conducts routine soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials testing with growing independence.
• Documents field conditions and test results in timely reports.
• Assists in preparing, organizing, and maintaining field and laboratory equipment.
• Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry tasks.
• Communicates with contractors and project teams about testing activities and site conditions.
• Notifies supervisors of changes in site conditions or testing needs.
• Supports laboratory testing, including sample prep, curing, and testing procedures.
• Maintains clean, organized field and lab areas.
• Participates in project meetings and coordination activities as requested.
• Assists with reviewing laboratory results and project documentation.
