Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an intern to observe and begin performing routine field and laboratory testing tasks in support of construction materials testing projects. You will assist with data collection, documentation, and testing activities under supervision while gaining familiarity with testing methods and workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Must be able to lift 85 pounds several times daily.
• Must complete at least one certification within 90 days and all basic certifications within 270 days, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary.
• Strong communication, dependable, and detail-oriented work ethic.
• Willingness to work in outdoor field environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction materials observation and testing in field and lab.
• Observe and participate in testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Document site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Prepare and organize field and lab equipment.
• Perform basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction.
• Communicate with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keep supervisors informed of changing site conditions or additional testing needs.
• Support laboratory testing activities, including sample preparation and curing.
