Job summary

GHD is seeking a CMT Technician for our Geotechnical team in Hilton Head (Bluffton), SC and Savannah, GA. You will perform field observation, testing, and sampling of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt while documenting findings per engineering standards.

Join our expert group to support construction and site development projects across the region and travel to various field locations as needed.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

Our Geotechnical team in Hilton Head (Bluffton), SC & Savannah, GA is looking for a CMT Technician to perform field observation, inspection, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, and asphalt pavement. You'll document findings in line with engineering best practices and building codes—helping ensure quality and compliance from the ground up. Join our Geotechnical Services Group and play a key role in construction and site development projects across the region!

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Data Collection and Analysis: Perform basic data entry tasks, including data verification.
• Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including use of personal protection equipment where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.
• Improvement/Innovation: Accept changes at work and provide support when asked.
• Performance Management: Complete allocated work to the required standards of quality and timeliness; use performance management systems to improve personal performance
• Recommendations: Identify changes that may need to be made to ensure the organization is in compliance.
• Solutions Analysis: Assess compliance with established standards and protocols for routine inquiries.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Experience in field testing of soils, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and masonry preferred but training will be provided on the job
• Certification in at least one of the following is preferred: ACI, NICET, ICC, SCDOT
• Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities preferred
• Able and willing to travel and work outdoors at job sites
