Job summary

GHD in the US East region seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team and contribute to planning, design and construction of water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure and site-development projects for municipal and private clients.

You will collaborate with diverse design teams from across the globe, travel to project sites as needed, and operate within a hybrid work model with three in-office days. A PE license and 6+ years of linear infrastructure experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
• At least 6 years of linear-focused project experience in water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure design and related fields.
• Modeling capabilities to support design and analysis.
• Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Client & Customer Management with small and large clients.
• Participate in Community of Practice in a defined area of expertise.
• Carry out engineering inspections to evaluate quality and compliance.
• Design engineering solutions and validation to meet briefs, standards and costs.
• Draft engineering standards and specifications and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Follow HSE policies to mitigate environmental and workplace risks.
• Develop own capabilities through assessment, training, and external accreditation.
• Prepare bids, proposals, and tender responses to win work.

Who are we looking for?

Our US East Design & Delivery Organization (DDO) has an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in the region! This role will provide you the opportunity to participate in the planning, design and construction engineering of exciting and diverse water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, and site-development projects for our wide range of municipal and private clients with a key focus on linear infrastructure and contribute to the growth in an emerging geographic market.

While this position is based in the US East region, you will have the flexibility to focus on the local market and/or become engaged in major projects worldwide supporting design operations from Australia to Europe working with diverse design teams from across the globe. GHD’s linear infrastructure expertise continues to grow and gain recognition across North America as #15 firm in Trenchless Technology with growing momentum with great opportunities.

This position can be based in most of our US East offices.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
• Community of Practice Management: Participate actively in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own expertise.
• Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
• Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
• Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well‑being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
• Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.

What you will bring to the team

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
• At least 6 years of linear focused project experience in water / wastewater / utility / infrastructure design / transmission main / industrial pipelines/ energy sector / industrial sites / grading plans / etc.
• Modeling capabilities
• Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed

• Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Salary Range: $94,000-$188,000 based on experience and location.
