GHD is seeking Geotechnical Engineering Interns for the upcoming summer to gain real-world experience in geotechnical engineering. You will assist with field and lab testing of soils, asphalt, and concrete, and support engineers with fieldwork, soil classification, and lab analysis.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Basic understanding of geotechnical concepts and lab testing procedures.
• Willingness to perform fieldwork and collect data for reports.

Responsibilities

• Data Collection and Analysis: collect data from standard sources and input into formats.
• Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: analyze geological/geophysical field data for proposals.
• Reservoir Characterization and Analysis: assist in data collection and interpretation tasks.
• Engineering Solutions Design: support feasibility testing and provide feedback on designs.
• Data Management: use data systems to access required information.
• Technical Developments Recommendation: suggest improvements to tools and portals.
• Knowledge Management: compile and share best practices and case studies.
• Personal Capability Building: participate in training and development activities to grow skills.
• Project Management: assist with project management tasks as needed.
• Research: participate in research activities.
• Technical Troubleshooting: help identify and resolve equipment/experiment issues.
• Exploration Plan Development: contribute to exploration plan development.

We're looking for Geotechnical Engineering Interns to join our Geotechnical team this upcoming summer! This is an excellent opportunity to get some real-world experience in the Geotechnical Engineering industry! In this role you will assist technical staff with field and lab testing of construction materials like soils, asphalt, and concrete, and support engineers with geotechnical fieldwork, soil classification, and lab testing.

Responsibilities

• Data Collection and Analysis: Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
• Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Contribute to well proposals by analyzing and interpreting geological/geophysical field data.
• Reservoir Characterization and Analysis: Help senior colleagues collect and analyze data by carrying out routine reservoir characterization and analysis tasks.
• Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
• Data Management: Use data management systems to access specific information as and when required.
• Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs.
• Knowledge Management: Collect and create content, best practices, and case studies to capture and share knowledge.
• Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
• Research: Support others by carrying out a range of research activities.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.
• Exploration Plan Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of exploration plans for specific projects.

What you will bring to the Team

• EducationBachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level. Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in either Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
• ExperienceGeneral Experience: Very limited work based experience (0 to 3 months)
• Managerial Experience: None
