Construction Materials Technician – Charlotte, NC

Location: Charlotte, NC

Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation construction projects.
  • Conduct soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone in accordance with ASTM specifications.
  • Sample and test concrete, interpret project plans and specifications, and prepare written field reports.
  • Inspect footings, rebar, and proof rolls with dynamic cone penetrometer.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and safety policies.
  • Interact with supervisors, foremen, project managers, and engineers on site.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience as a construction engineering inspector.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic Excel proficiency.
  • Physical ability to stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of construction materials testing experience on commercial or transportation projects.
  • BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing) or equivalent.
  • Experience evaluating soil subgrade, performing Proctor and moisture checks.
  • Knowledge of site grading drawings and NCDOT certifications.
Physical Demands

Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance. Ability to work in variable outdoor conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
