Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated is seeking a Quality Control Technician Level I to test, sample, and inspect construction materials in laboratory or field settings to ensure alignment with supplier and owner specifications.

Entry-level role requiring basic computer skills, good communication, and compliance with safety procedures. A high school diploma is preferred, and a regional/state certification is desirable. The position emphasizes teamwork and adherence to Granite's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collect/prepare samples of soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA) or Portland cement concrete (PCC) in lab or field.
  • Perform quality control testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare and communicate testing results to supervisors for quality control.
  • Support safety procedures and policies to promote a safe workplace.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.

General Summary

This position is responsible for testing, sampling, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a laboratory or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications.

Level I technicians test, sample, or inspect one or more construction materials or elements.* The QC Technician Level I position description may be superseded by wage classification(s) in local collective bargaining agreements.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Collect/prepare samples of one of the following construction materials; soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA) or Portland cement concrete (PCC) in either a laboratory or field setting.
  • Perform quality control testing on one of the above materials in either a lab or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications.
  • Perform inspections on one of the above materials in either a lab or field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications.
  • Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and process changes can be implemented.
  • Participate in and promote Granite's safety procedures and policies to promote a safe working environment.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations in order to perform duties in a safe manner.
Education

High school diploma preferred

Regional or State Agency certification desired

Base Salary Range

Base Salary Range: $32,986.00 - $49,476.00
