Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated is seeking a senior Quality Management professional to coordinate QM functions across operating groups and support QC operations. You will drive audit programs, process improvements, and best practices to ensure compliance with Granite standards.

The role requires deep knowledge of quality management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, customers, and public agencies.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering and 10 years experience or 25 years technical/managerial experience in construction and construction materials.
  • Expert knowledge of quality management concepts and audit procedures
  • Proficient with database operations and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate operating group QM functions and support QC operations.
  • Assist QM with execution of programs and operation-specific quality plans.
  • Provide technical support to resolve QC challenges and transfer knowledge.
  • Review RFPs to determine quality requirements and QC plans while minimizing risk and cost.
  • Participate in process improvement and disseminate best practices and SOPs.
  • Perform QM audits to ensure compliance with project and corporate standards.
  • Assist with quality budgets and forecasts for favorable financial performance.
  • Develop relationships with regional/state agencies, customers and engineering firms.
  • Promote Granite safety procedures for a safe work environment.

This includes responsibility for technical support of QC operations, QM initiative development, and process improvement activities generating/disseminating best practices to ensure compliance with Granite Construction standards of expectations.Essential Job AccountabilitiesActively participate in development of corporate Quality Management initiatives and implementation of them to ensure compliance with quality standards and value added benefit to customers.Assist and support QC Managers with execution of overall QM programs and establishment of operation specific quality programs to assure compliance with contract requirements.Provide technical support for QC Managers and operations to ensure rapid resolution of technical challenges, customer service, and knowledge transfer needs.Provide technical support for review of RFPs to determine quality requirements, mix design review, and determination of optimum QC plans to meet requirements while minimizing risk and cost.Continually participate in process improvement activities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, then develop and disseminate best practices and standard operating procedures based on them.Be actively involved in QC staff development to assure a highly engaged workforce and succession planning.Perform QM audits of area, region, and project quality operations to assure compliance with project specific and corporate compliance standards.Assist QC Managers with development of quality budgets and forecasts are and use to achieve positive financial performance.Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with key regional and state public agency technical staff, customers, and engineering firms.Participate in and promote Granite’s safety procedures to promote a safe working environment including compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.Education/CertificationBS in Engineering desired or equivalent work experienceRegistered Professional Engineer desiredISO Internal Auditor Certification desiredWork ExperienceBS in Engineering and 10 years experience or 25 years technical/managerial experience in construction and construction materials.Knowledge, skills, and abilitiesExpert knowledge of quality management concepts and audit proceduresProficient with database operations and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent communication and organizational skillsSelf-motivatedPhysical DemandThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard.The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Additional requirementsValid driver’s licenseAbility to travelOur Benefits at a Glance:Building tomorrow starts with you, and Granite knows that you can excel only if we support you in and out of the workplace.
