Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level 2 in Fredericksburg, VA. You will perform routine field and laboratory testing with increasing independence, supporting data collection and documentation while learning testing standards and project workflows.

The role requires pursuing a civil engineering degree, internships, and certifications (Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I) within set timelines, plus the ability to lift 85 pounds and work both

Qualifications

• 90 days of related experience
• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Complete required certifications within 270 days, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiaries
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to lift 85 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Developing knowledge of construction materials testing principles
• Basic math and data interpretation
• Ability to read plans and construction documents
• Proficiency with electronic devices and data entry tools

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing in soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials with guidance
• Document field conditions and test results in field reports
• Assist in preparation and maintenance of field and lab equipment
• Conduct basic data reduction and data entry tasks
• Communicate with contractors, field staff and project teams about testing
• Notify supervisors of changes in site conditions or issues
• Assist with lab testing, including sample preparation and curing
• Maintain organized, clean lab and field work environments
• Participate in project meetings and coordination
• Review laboratory results and support project documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned
