Job summary

TTL is seeking a Construction Materials Field Technician for Decatur and Huntsville, AL. Starting pay $17.00/hour, with ACI Concrete certification desired. TTL will cover certification costs and prep courses.

You will perform field and laboratory tests to verify concrete and soil quality, monitor materials, and prepare daily reports under supervision, contributing to accurate and compliant construction verification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
• Good driving record.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
• Possess stamina to work in outdoor environments (hot/cold).
• 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt preferred.
• Pre-employment drug and motor vehicle record check; TTL is an EEO/AAP employer.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications.
• Monitors, observes, and samples materials used in construction work.
• Follows procedures, performs accurate computations, and maintains cordial relationships with coworkers and clients.
• Prepares daily reports and data sheets; operates with close to moderate supervision.
• Observes backfilling of subgrades, installation of reinforcing, and densities of concrete/asphalt.

Starting pay $17.00/hour depending on experience (ACI Concrete certification desired)

What You’ll Do

• Performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections for the purpose of verifying conformance to construction plans and specifications.
• Monitors, observes, and samples the materials used in construction work.
• Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintains cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
• Prepares daily reports and data sheets. Operates with close to moderate supervision.
• Typical activities include but are not limited to: observation and monitoring of backfilling of subgrades, installation of reinforcing, fresh concrete sampling, base stone, and asphalt densities.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. College coursework or degree preferred. Emphasis in physical sciences and/or math.
• Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
• Good driving record.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
• Possess sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment.
• 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt is preferred.
