Job summary

TTL is seeking a Construction Materials Field Technician for Decatur and Huntsville, AL. Starting pay is $17.00/hour, with certification opportunities paid by TTL. The role involves field and lab testing, reporting, and coordination with teams to ensure quality construction materials.

Ideal candidates have at least a high school diploma, the ability to lift 50+ lbs, and strong communication skills. Prior soil/concrete testing is preferred; training and advancement are available within the

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and work outdoors in hot/cold conditions.
• 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections per plans and specs.
• Monitors, observes, and samples materials used in construction work.
• Prepares daily reports and data sheets; operates with supervision.
• Observe backfilling of subgrades, installation of reinforcing, concrete sampling, densities.

Construction Materials Field Technician - Decatur and Huntsville, AL

Starting pay $17.00/hour depending on experience (ACI Concrete certification desired)

What You'll Do

• Performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections for the purpose of verifying conformance to construction plans and specifications.
• Monitors, observes, and samples the materials used in construction work.
• Follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintains cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.
• Prepares daily reports and data sheets. Operates with close to moderate supervision.
• Typical activities include but are not limited to: observation and monitoring of backfilling of subgrades, installation of reinforcing, fresh concrete sampling, base stone, and asphalt densities.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. College coursework or degree preferred. Emphasis in physical sciences and/or math.
• Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
• Good driving record.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
• Possess sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment.
• 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt is preferred.
