Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates in Aberdeen, MD is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our field team. You will perform field observations, sampling, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials on land development and construction projects.

This role offers on-the-job training, a competitive starting rate up to $22 per hour based on experience, and company benefits including PTO, education support, ESOP ownership, and more.

Qualifications

• Must have reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift up to 60-80 pounds.
• Able to work outdoors in all climates and terrains.
• Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.
• Effective verbal and written communication; MS Office skills.
• Pre-employment requirements and training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations at regional jobsites.
• Sample and test construction materials (soil, aggregates, concrete, etc.).
• Prepare accurate daily logs of inspections and results.
• Coordinate with PM/Operations Manager on project progress.
