We are seeking a Construction Material Technician to join our team and support a project located in Lead, South Dakota.

Responsibilities

Performs construction-related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Supervisory Staff.
Work schedule typically 8 to 10 hours per day, with the ability to work nights and weekends when required.
Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.
Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
Performs field quality control tests of concrete and masonry construction.
Performs field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.
Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks and supports other departments as necessary.
Follows Atlas’ safety policies and procedures.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specs; ability to follow Atlas QC plan and SOPs.

Minimum Requirements

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 REQUIRED
2 years of experience in construction material testing REQUIRED
Valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent
Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 50 lbs., stoop, bend, and stand for the duration of a workday in varying weather conditions and terrain
Motivated, career-oriented individual with a willingness to learn within the construction industry
Willingness to travel near the reporting office and surrounding areas as required by assignments
Works well independently
Experience in a construction-related field is a plus
Safety conscious, a team player, energetic, self-motivated, with good written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

Technical Requirements

Ability to work toward and achieve industry-required certifications (e.g., ACI, OSHA 10) and related credentials

Other Qualities

Materials laboratory, geotechnical drilling, or soils-related experience would be a plus
Preference for certifications such as ACI Masonry or ACI strength
