Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Construction Manager to lead multi‑building data center projects from preconstruction through commissioning. You will manage a team of project engineers, coordinate with sales, operations, and management, and drive on‑time, on‑budget delivery while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires a strong background in CSA/MEP construction, plus 5+ years as a project engineer. Travel and external partner oversight are expected aspects of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a project engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity.
  • 7+ years preferred.
  • Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and/or MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement.
  • Data Center experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management across all phases.
  • Oversee preconstruction, due diligence, and buyout activities, including contractor selection and scope alignment.

Construction Delivery Department

The Construction team is responsible for the entire process flow of delivering the physical data centers from shovel ready state through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, and management along the way. Construction implements and executes upon the work product developed by the Development & Engineering (D&E) team. The team also manages Vantage’s build partners to success through technical feedback and review and actively participates in review of schedule and budget. Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our construction teams are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can ensure the key stakeholders are engaged in the decision‑making process to align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. Position Overview

This role will be based in Shackelford County, TX The Construction Manager manages a team of project engineers, senior project engineers across one or more buildings. The construction manager will also drive success on new and ongoing data center projects. This position will cover all aspects of a construction project. Areas of expertise relate to RFP preparation, buyout process, physical construction, MEP systems, commissioning, design regulation, stakeholder management, and project closeout. Regular collaboration are required with internal resources and design‑build contractors.

Essential Job Functions

Demonstrate and promote the Vantage Values: Trust, Accountability, Respect and Agility Lead and develop Vantage team members to include third‑party project resources. Lead overall project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management across all phases. Oversee preconstruction, due diligence, and buyout activities, including contractor selection and scope alignment. Lead coordination across internal stakeholders, design teams, trade partners, and Operations to ensure alignment with design intent, budget, and long‑term facility operations. Monitor project financials, including forecasting, monthly reporting, and EAC tracking, in coordination with project controls and CCF teams. Lead contractor billing and pay application processes, ensuring accuracy, tracking progress against completion, and identifying improvement opportunities. Oversee construction execution, including job walks, safety participation, progress tracking, and coordination of site activities. Ensure adherence to safety programs, quality standards (QA/QC), and compliance with BOD, specifications, codes, and lease requirements. Lead startup, commissioning, and closeout activities, including schedule management, system validation (e.g., RNI, IST, RFS), and facility turnover to Operations. Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks, resolving issues and conflicts as needed. Maintain visibility into all construction site activities, ensuring progress, safety, and quality standards are consistently met across projects. Drive customer engagement, ensuring requirements are captured, integrated into design, and delivered throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure 'lessons learned' are held and placed in the feedback loop to drive continuous improvement Perform other duties as assigned Travel required is expected to be 10-30% but may increase over time as the business evolve

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or similar field, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience as a project engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity required; 7+ years preferred. Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and/or MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement Complex and technical construction experience is required Data Center experience is preferred

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Working understanding of project scheduling concepts and tools (MS Project or P6) Basic leadership capabilities, including supporting team members and contributing to a positive team environment. Strong working knowledge of critical power and cooling infrastructure systems. Proficiency in data center design and familiarity with North American construction markets preferred. Familiarity with applicable building codes, fire ordinances, and regulatory requirements. Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation standards. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Problem solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. High level of integrity and professionalism.
