About the Role

As the Construction Manager - Chemical & Gas Systems, you will lead the PSSS mechanical construction team and manage mechanical project information from preconstruction through commissioning and punch list completion for a large semiconductor project. Working fully onsite in Boise, Idaho, you will coordinate with design professionals, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and craft personnel to resolve complex mechanical and MEP coordination issues, maintain quality standards, and support safe, on-schedule system startup activities. What you will be doing:

  • Oversee the daily installation work of PSSS "Process Specific Support System" mechanical subcontractors and vendors to maintain project schedules and support system startup and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret construction documents, control sequences, technical manuals, design specifications, and other mechanical project documentation.
  • Lead startup coordination meetings involving area Construction Managers, design team members, subcontractors, local utility agencies, and owners.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical system startups between area Construction Managers, multiple subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Verify that startup documentation is complete and confirm equipment is construction-complete and safe to energize or place into operation.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements within the overall project design.
  • Organize and facilitate training for client personnel on the operation and maintenance of MEP systems.
  • Review and process project submittals, coordinating across multiple packages to confirm accuracy, compatibility, and system functionality.
  • Receive, distribute, and track RFIs, scope changes, record documents, meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
  • Perform field surveying and support layout of control lines and benchmarks.
  • Serve as the onsite technical advisor for mechanical construction activities and support issue resolution in the field.
  • Assist with mechanical estimating, subcontractor and equipment buyout, staffing plans, budgets, and schedule development.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractor contracts, contract modifications, billing, and schedules of values.
  • Maintain accurate project information using computers, handheld electronic devices, and project management systems.
  • Communicate clearly with owners, architects, engineers, manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel in person, in writing, and electronically.
About You

You are an experienced mechanical construction professional who can manage technically complex semiconductor and high-tech projects while maintaining strong coordination across design, field, and owner teams. You are organized, decisive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced construction environment. You communicate effectively under pressure, build cooperative relationships with trade and craft personnel, and remain focused on safety, quality, schedule, and project completion.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent combination ofeducation and field experience.

  • Minimum of five years of mechanical construction experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial and/or high-tech semiconductor construction projects.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, design documentation, specifications, and the CSI specification system.
  • Training or demonstrated experience reading construction drawings and design specifications and applying survey theory and techniques.
  • Ability to coordinate with trade and craft personnel in active field conditions while maintaining professionalism during high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent work activities and respond effectively to frequent interruptions and urgent field questions.
  • Highly developed visual observation, technical interpretation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with owners, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work independently, make timely decisions, follow through on assignments, and plan work efficiently to meet project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and Bluebeam.
  • Experience using project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Microsoft Project, and/or Primavera P6.
  • Experience using design and coordination software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Ability to physically access all areas and levels of an active construction site, climb stairs, and lift or carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours or off-shift work, as required by changing construction schedules and sequences.
  • Preferred Qualifications: LEED Accredited Professional credential or the ability to obtain accreditation within 18 months.
  • Direct experience coordinating mechanical system startup, commissioning, owner training, and punch list activities on semiconductor or similarly complex high-tech projects.
