Job summary

Hoffman Construction Co of America seeks a Mechanical Wet Systems Construction Manager to lead the on-site mechanical team for large hi-tech projects in Boise, ID. You will coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements, guide commissioning activities, and ensure quality control across the site.

You will work closely with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople, reporting to the Mechanical Project Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years mechanical construction experience.
  • Experience on industrial or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects preferred.
  • Experience working in live high-tech facilities.
  • LEED accreditation or ability to attain within 18 months preferred.
  • Bachelor’s in related field or equivalent field experience requested.

  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and scope changes to ensure accuracy and functionality of MEP systems.

  • Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements.

Job description

The Mechanical Wet Systems Construction Manager will work within the Construction Management department and will report to the Mechanical Project Manager. They will work closely with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople to address complex mechanical coordination issues. The Mechanical Construction Manager will manage the Mechanical Team and lead our on-site Mechanical quality control efforts for large hi-tech projects. This position will be fully at the project site in Boise, ID.

Salary: $100,000 to $140,000 DOE +Incentives

Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee vendor installation work daily to ensure they are maintaining their installation schedule and support system startup and commissioning activities.
  • Interface between Area Construction Managers and multiple subcontractors to assist in coordinating mechanical and electrical system startups.
  • Verify all documentation is complete, and ensure equipment being prepared for startup is construction complete and can safely be started.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements within the overall project design.
  • Organize and facilitate training of clients' personnel in the operations and maintenance of MEP systems.
  • Run startup meetings involving Area Construction Managers, design team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies, and owners to coordinate/drive MEP system start up activities.
  • Review and process project submittal information and coordinate between multiple submittals to ensure the accuracy and functionality of each component of the various MEP systems.
  • Receive and distribute requests for information (RFI) and change in scope documents issued by other team members.
  • Field survey of control lines and benchmarks.
  • Be the technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
  • Assist in estimating mechanical budgets and managing mechanical team project staffing.
  • Secure mechanical subcontractors and equipment buyout and manage mechanical subcontractor contracts and contract modifications.
Qualifications

Position Related Skills

  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system for construction.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of low voltage electrical construction.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
Professional Experience and Education
  • A minimum of five (5) years of mechanical construction experience required.
  • Specific experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects is preferred.
  • Experience working in a live high-tech facility.
  • LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
  • Education background in materials and methods of construction.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.
  • Must be able to climb stairs: Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces.
  • Hands/Arms: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Sight: Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must be able to operate a vehicle safely with a valid driver's license. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents
  • Hearing: Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment more than 75% of the time. Must be able to wear hearing protection as necessary. Often required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting and on the job site.
  • Speech: Ability to communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.
  • Lift/Carry: Must have the ability to lift or manipulate 50 pounds to a height of 3 feet, and carry or push it 50-100 feet.
  • Bending/Twisting: Frequent.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Must be able to regularly position oneself in a kneeling, crouching, or crawling position for the purpose of examining project work.
  • Must use independent judgment, and organizational, and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results.
