The Construction Manager oversees assigned homes from construction start through completion, closing, and transition to the warranty team. This position manages schedules, trade partners, inspections, quality, jobsite safety, costs, and homeowner communication across communities in Houston and surrounding areas while maintaining company standards and scheduled closing dates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily construction activities for assigned homes and communities from start through homeowner turnover.
  • Maintain accurate construction schedules and coordinate trade partners, material deliveries, inspections, and required approvals.
  • Inspect homes regularly for workmanship, plan compliance, construction progress, cleanliness, and readiness for the next scheduled activity.
  • Identify construction issues early and coordinate timely corrective action to minimize delays, rework, and cost exposure.
  • Enforce company safety expectations and applicable OSHA requirements across active jobsites.
  • Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, purchase orders, and change documentation, and monitor costs to control variances, waste, and rework.
  • Hold trade partners accountable for scheduling, workmanship, jobsite conditions, and completion of corrective work.
  • Maintain complete and current schedules, inspection results, photographs, notes, and related records in BuildPro and other company systems.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Sales, Operations, Warranty, and other internal teams to support timely and successful home delivery.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners at required milestones and address construction-related questions throughout the building process.
  • Conduct homeowner orientations, confirm each home is ready for closing, and assist with an orderly transition to the warranty team.
Required Qualifications
  • At least three years of residential construction experience, preferably with a production homebuilder.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, building codes, inspections, plans, and scopes of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple homes, deadlines, and competing priorities in a field-based environment.
  • Strong organization, judgment, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work effectively with homeowners, trade partners, vendors, inspectors, and internal departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and construction management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel among assigned communities and jobsites.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of construction management experience in production homebuilding.
  • Experience using BuildPro or a comparable construction management platform.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, or comparable industry experience.
  • Current OSHA certification.
  • Familiarity with Greater Houston municipalities, inspection processes, and residential building requirements.
Schedule and Travel

This is a full-time field position serving the Greater Houston Area. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, generally between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Evening or weekend availability may be required based on construction schedules, inspections, homeowner appointments, or other business needs. Regular travel among assigned communities, jobsites, and the Houston Division office is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work primarily in active residential construction environments, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
  • Walk and inspect jobsites with uneven surfaces and regularly stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.
  • Safely navigate active jobsites while maintaining awareness of construction-related hazards.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
