Job summary

Homes by WestBay in Venice, FL is seeking a Construction Manager II to oversee the construction of assigned homes, coordinating on-site activities and guiding the project from plan review through final walkthrough.

You will work under the Area Construction Manager, supervise field personnel, ensure quality, safety, and budget adherence, and communicate weekly status to customers and sales teams while keeping trades aligned with plans and schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction activities to complete homes on schedule and within budget.
  • Communicate weekly progress to customer and internal teams.
  • Maintain construction schedule and address issues before affecting critical path.
  • Coordinate with Area Construction Manager and sales for meetings.
  • Direct trades to ensure plans and scopes are met and inspections prepared.
  • Enforce safety policy and maintain organized job site.

The Construction Manager II is responsible for overseeing the construction of assigned homes and operate with regular supervision of the Area Construction Manager. This includes the daily coordination of all on site activities of the construction schedule, supervising all field personnel and to successfully complete homes on schedule and within budget. This also includes maintaining the highest quality while driving good construction practices and safety. From Plan Review through Final Walk Through, the Construction Manager II is the customer’s primary point of contact and responsible for delivering on the company Mission to the customer during the construction process.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee all construction activities to achieve 100% completion on schedule, within budget and in conformance to plans, specifications and standards
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant information to the customer on a weekly basis
  • Maintain effective construction schedule while identifying and solving problems before they affect critical path to on time delivery.
  • Keep the Area Construction Manager and appropriate parties informed about production status and issues that may impact delivery of the Mission. Be prepared for weekly backlog meetings and neighborhood meetings with the sales team
  • Managing all eight customer meetings as outlined in the HBWB Process Manual
  • Maintain an organized job site including the construction office
  • Enforce company safety policy with trade partners and company employees
  • Effectively manage communication between Sales, Closing Coordinators, Design Studio and Purchasing as needed
  • Commands respect of customers and vendors through consistent delivery of commitments and expectations
  • Exhibits tact, consideration, and patience in difficult situations
  • Interacts and communicates clearly with coworkers, clients and vendors in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Approaches sudden, unexpected challenges effectively with confidence
  • Appropriately and accurately orders required materials
  • Direct all trades to achieve completion of scheduled tasks on time and in conformance with plans, specifications and scopes of work
  • Understand of inspection requirements and preparation of homes for inspection
Skills
  • Working knowledge and experience with production homebuilding scheduling.
  • Fluently read construction plans and scopes of work.
  • Able to consistently carry at least 8-12 homes at a medium to high level complex built depending on community specifications as needed.
  • Consistently delivers assigned homes 100% on time and on budget.
  • Ability to integrate and apply the company’s PACT framework in all job functions.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.
Additional Requirements
  • This is an on-site position based in the Venice/North Port, FL area and will require relocation if you are not currently located in the area. While the role is primarily in-person, there may be limited access to remote work at the discretion of management and based on business needs.
  • This is an exempt role, which may require working more than eight hours per day.
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is a precondition of employment.
