Job summary

About the Role

This position is employed by AL Homes Inc., a brand of AlphaX RE Capital. We are seeking a Construction Manager (Community) who will be responsible for overseeing all vertical construction activities within an assigned residential community, ensuring homes are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. This role manages day-to-day field operations, coordinates subcontractors and trade partners, monitors construction progress, and ensures compliance with company policies, building codes, and safety regulations throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Community Construction Management
  • Oversee all construction activities within assigned residential communities from groundbreaking through home completion and turnover.
  • Manage multiple homes in various stages of construction while ensuring adherence to approved schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to support construction milestones and targeted home closing dates.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections to monitor workmanship, construction progress, and compliance with company standards.
  • Identify construction challenges and implement timely solutions to minimize delays and maintain production efficiency.
Subcontractor & Trade Partner Management
  • Coordinate daily activities of subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship, productivity, and adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Communicate construction priorities, schedule changes, and project expectations to trade partners.
  • Resolve field conflicts, scheduling issues, and construction deficiencies in collaboration with subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Foster strong working relationships with subcontractors while promoting accountability, quality, and safety.
Quality Assurance & Safety
  • Conduct quality control inspections throughout each phase of construction to ensure compliance with company standards, plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Coordinate required municipal inspections and address any deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Review and complete punch lists prior to homeowner orientations and final closings.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe construction sites that reflect company expectations and professionalism.
Project Coordination & Customer Experience
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Land Development, Architecture, and Project Management teams to ensure timely material deliveries and project readiness.
  • Coordinate construction schedules with Sales and Customer Care to support homeowner communications and closing timelines.
  • Conduct homeowner walkthroughs, new home orientations, and final inspections while addressing customer questions and concerns.
  • Support warranty teams by assisting with construction-related issues identified after home closing.
  • Provide regular project updates and construction status reports to leadership and key stakeholders.
Budget & Operational Management
  • Monitor construction costs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Review field change requests, construction variances, and additional work for accuracy and budget impact.
  • Ensure labor, materials, and equipment are utilized efficiently to support production goals.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, inspection records, daily reports, and project updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance construction processes, scheduling, and quality.
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5–8 years of residential construction experience, including experience managing production homebuilding projects or residential communities.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, building systems, and quality standards.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, trade partners, and construction schedules across multiple homes.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA safety regulations and construction site safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between assigned communities.
Preferred
  • Experience working for a California residential homebuilder or production homebuilding company.
  • Familiarity with California residential building codes, municipal inspections, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as BuildPro, Hyphen, Procore, NewStar, or similar software.
  • Experience overseeing multiple active communities or high-volume residential production.
  • OSHA 30 certification or other construction safety certifications.

The expected salary range for this position is $110,000 to $150,000 per year. The actual salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and specific skill sets, in accordance with California laws.
