Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Construction, the Construction Manager will play a critical role in executing the Company’s renewable energy projects. This is both a tactical and strategic position, requiring the agility to move smoothly between activities, and will draw on strong project and time management skills. The Construction Manager will ensure projects will be completed safely, on time, in compliance with the contracts, and on budget. The Construction Manager will work closely with various functions across the company and should have a demonstrated knowledge of commercial practices, legal principles, project controls, and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities
- Supervise construction management with the EPC contractor and Owner’s construction managment site representatives on safety, site management, project controls, QA/QC, commissioning, and stakeholder communication
- Perform analysis and review of change orders
- Participate in regular daily, weekly, and monthly site project meetings
- Participate in construction scope kickoffs and critical stakeholder discussions
- Conduct regular site assessments across various construction actives and disciplines
- Support safety team in both onsite assessments and drafting of emergency response plans
- Work with the Engineering, Procurement and PMO Teams on the preparation of competitive EPC request for Proposals and negotiation of EPC Contracts addressing project-specific construction and technical drivers
- Work with the Procurement, Development, Operations, and Finance teams in the development of technical, construction, and cost-effective solutions at different project stages in response to various offtake tenders providing necessary inputs and assumptions
- Meet and communicate with local public and private stakeholders as needed to address project concerns and risks
- Ensure project compliance with building and development permits and regulations
- Review progress and schedule performance of ongoing projects
Qualifications & Skills
- Illinois or Indiana location required
- Hybrid role: 50% remote/50% on site (3 days per week/2 days per week)
- At least 5 years of experience in engineering, procurement, and power plant construction, preferably with recent solar, BESS, and/or wind recent experience; and at least 3 years of that in a leadership capacity
- Engineering or Construction Management degree from an accredited university strongly preferred; PMP certification a plus
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage a safe work environment for Earthrise and contractor personnel
- Knowledge of power plant design standards and practices, inspections, and QA/QC
- Thorough knowledge of EPC contracts including technical and commercial drivers
