Job summary

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Construction Manager in Houston, Texas to lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating with clients, contractors and design teams to meet contract requirements and client objectives. The role includes mentoring staff and contributing to business development while traveling to active sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of construction leadership experience, CCM certification or PE license, and strong communication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant construction experience as a construction manager or superintendent.
  • Proficiency with project management information systems and ability to mentor others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of alternative project delivery methods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple construction projects while coordinating scope, schedule, budget, risks and requirements.
  • Supervise construction observation and inspection activities, including sampling, testing and quantity measurement.
  • Review contractor work for conformance and manage RFIs, submittals, pay requests, changes and claims.
  • Prepare for and lead pre-bid, preconstruction and construction meetings with documentation and follow-up.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors and design teams to clarify objectives and support timely decisions.
  • Lead closeout activities and capture lessons learned for future projects.
  • Develop staff through planning, feedback, coaching and day-to-day direction.
  • Travel to active project sites as needed to support execution and client needs.

As Construction Manager, you will lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, working closely with clients, contractors, design teams and project staff to keep work aligned with contract requirements, schedules and client objectives .
