Job summary

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Construction Manager in Houston, Texas. You will lead construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, working with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure compliance with contract requirements, schedules and client objectives.

You will have opportunities to guide team members, strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development while supporting projects that require regular travel to active job sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• CCM certification strongly preferred.
• 10+ years in construction as a construction manager or superintendent.
• Proficiency with project management information systems and mentoring others.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of alternative project delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple construction projects, coordinating scope, schedule, budget, risks and requirements.
• Supervise construction observation, sampling, testing, and quantity measurement.
• Review contractor work for conformance, manage RFI, submittals, pay requests, COs and claims.
• Lead pre-bid, preconstruction and construction meetings with documentation and follow-up.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and design teams to resolve issues and inform decisions.
• Lead closeout activities and document lessons learned for future projects.
• Develop and mentor project staff through planning, feedback and coaching.
• Travel to active project sites as needed to support execution.
