Construction Manager / Owner’s Representative – Local Market

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Owner’s Representative to provide field leadership and oversight for some of the company’s most complex and high-profile commercial real estate projects within the local market.
This role will oversee multiple active construction projects simultaneously, serving as a trusted representative of the owner throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings extensive commercial construction experience, strong knowledge of building systems and project delivery, and the ability to hold contractors and project teams accountable to quality, schedule, safety, and financial expectations.
This is a highly visible, field-focused position requiring regular presence at active construction sites and the ability to confidently manage complex issues, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively with executives, contractors, consultants, landlords, and municipal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide field leadership and oversight across multiple active commercial construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure projects meet corporate design, quality, safety, and construction standards.
- Review structural, architectural, MEP, and other building systems to ensure proper coordination and execution.
- Interpret design intent and work with project teams to resolve construction, engineering, and field coordination issues.
- Establish and monitor site safety, logistics, and environmental requirements across the local project portfolio.
- Identify potential issues early and develop solutions to keep projects on track.
- Direct and evaluate the performance of General Contractors, construction management teams, consultants, and specialty trade partners.
- Serve as a key escalation point for complex field issues, contractor disputes, site conditions, trade coordination, and contract matters.
- Hold contractors and project partners accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and contractual obligations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, contractors, consultants, building officials, and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with local municipalities and regulatory agencies to support permitting, zoning, inspections, and Certificates of Occupancy.
Financial Management & Risk Mitigation
- Review contractor payment applications, change orders, project costs, and schedule impacts to help protect the company’s capital investment.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, commitments, and overall CapEx performance.
- Identify and proactively manage risks related to labor availability, supply chain constraints, permitting, regulatory requirements, and market conditions.
- Develop recovery plans and corrective actions when projects experience cost, schedule, or execution challenges.
- Support project closeout, ensuring proper documentation, asset tracking, punch-list completion, and final capital expenditure reconciliation.Facilitate a smooth transition from construction to operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, preferably as an Owner’s Representative, Senior Construction Manager/Superintendent, Lead Project Manager, or similar role.
