Cameron County is seeking a Construction Management Director who will oversee all building projects and ensure compliance with codes. You will develop plans, coordinate between architects, contractors, and county departments, and prepare cost estimates.
Must have a BS in construction management or related field and at least five years in construction management; strong knowledge of local, state, and federal codes; and excellent negotiation and reporting skills.
PAY GRADE: 130- $90,676.00 minimum salary
Under the direction of County Administration this position oversees and initiates all building construction projects for the County and performs all related duties as required. Positions in this class perform routine analytical reviews and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer questions; and maintain documents and records. Familiar with construction trades and practices in addition to contract negotiations. Familiar with Local, State and Federal codes and regulations related to construction or new facility and renovation or existing.

Performs other related duties as required. Supervises subordinate employees within the department.
Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineer or an Architectural Degree. Five years of Building Construction experience or Construction Management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Exposure to damp/wet surfaces, duty conditions, fumes and odors, flammable liquids and high noise levels.
