Waddell Serafino Geary Rechner Jenevein, PC is a law firm formed with the purpose of managing and resolving its clients’ legal issues. Our attorneys are passionate problem solvers who represent a diverse group of individuals, corporate clients and government entities, including construction firms, financial institutions, school districts, real estate development and leasing companies, utility companies, insurance carriers, professional sports teams, entertainment industry professionals, accounting firms and many other private and public entities. A growing law firm with offices in Dallas, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, our team is dedicated to representing clients in a manner that is consistent with each client\'s philosophy and objectives.

We are seeking an associate attorney with 6+ years of experience in civil litigation defense with a strong preference for prior work in construction law/design professional law to join the firm in its Dallas office. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge and understanding of as well as an aptitude for construction case issues.

The associate attorney provides legal work and will collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants on construction litigation matters with an emphasis on defending architects and engineers. The job responsibilities may include, among others, managing a docket of litigation files, which may include drafting motions, pleadings, memoranda and briefs, discovery demands and responses, conducting legal research, preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, trials, and communicating with courts and opposing parties.

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze legal sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and legal codes
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery, electronic document production, taking and defending depositions
  • Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and any other necessary legal documentation
  • Formulate legal strategy and case management
  • Appear in court for status, hearings, and trials
  • Work closely with other attorneys and team members on legal matters
  • Communicate with clients and provide status reports
Minimum Qualifications
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas
  • 6+ years of prior experience practicing law
  • Previous practical work experience on construction or professional liability litigation matters is strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience in handling a large volume of cases in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and responsibly
  • Some travel may be required
Physical Demands and Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment and involves everyday risks or discomforts, requiring normal safety precautions when performing work. Work requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and carrying items up to 25 pounds. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required for performance of duties, as well as working extended and unscheduled work hours. Work also requires physical presence in the office.
