Job summary

City of Fort Wayne is seeking a Construction Laborer-Utility Person to support field operations by performing hands-on construction, maintenance, and equipment work that keeps water, sewer, and stormwater systems running safely every day.

You will work 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and collaborate with City crews, following safety rules and training to maintain infrastructure and support reliable city services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in construction, utilities, or outdoor labor preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks, front-end loaders, and related equipment for utility operations.
• Install, repair, and maintain water and sewer infrastructure such as hydrants, mains, valves, and laterals.
• Perform construction and repair work using hand and power tools, concrete, mortar, and asphalt.
• Complete inspections, pre-trip vehicle checks, and routine equipment maintenance.
• Work closely with City crews, assist with training, and follow all safety requirements.

What You'll Do
