Job summary

M. A. Mortenson Company in Nashville is seeking a Laborer I to support construction by preparing, handling, and supplying materials for other trades.

You will load and unload equipment, assemble scaffolding, level ground, tend mortar and grout, and move materials safely while maintaining a clean work area and cooperating with diverse teams. This role involves lifting up to 50 lbs and requires reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to operate tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
