Job summary

Scotty’s Contracting and Stone is seeking a Construction Laborer to join our Heavy Civil Division. This role supports the completion of heavy highway, industrial, and commercial sitework projects, performing physical duties at active sites under the Foreman’s direction to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality execution.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and capable of working effectively in a team under varying weather and site conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience performing similar key responsibilities.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safety practices
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle report that is in good standing.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to protocols.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general heavy civil construction labor duties
• Direct and control the flow of traffic through construction zones using signs, hand signals, and other traffic control devices
• Communicate clearly with crew members, equipment operators, and the public to ensure safety and efficient traffic movement
• Monitor traffic and work zone conditions, adjusting signals and equipment as needed to maintain a safe environment
• Assist with the safe entry and exit of construction vehicles and equipment from the work zone
• Remain alert and attentive to changing conditions and potential hazards at all times
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies regarding work zone safety and PPE
