Job Overview:
The Laborer position with RBA Builders LLC serves an essential function in construction operations through the assistance and completion of various field duties.
The RBA Laborer performs duties as directed by both field supervision and lead tradesmen to complete all project deliverables required for successful project completion.
Responsibilities:
- Assists Superintendents, foreman, carpenters, and other skilled labor when necessary.
- Preps construction sites by clearing obstacles, setting up barricades, establishing lay down areas and other duties as assigned.
- Load and/or unload construction materials as they arrive on site and ensure that they are properly stacked, placed and stored in a safe manner.
- Put together and take apart temporary structures, such as portable scaffolding, barricade walls, temporary fencing, scrim, delineators, safety signage/stands, etc.
- Remove, fill or compact earth for excavation purposes.
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Maintain cleanliness of jobsites and related storage and/or trailers while developing an awareness of potential materials that can be salvaged and repurposed at other sites.
- Ready and willing to learn from lead personnel regarding on-the-job training prior to taking on a new task.
- Has the ability to assist carpenters in framing, taping, painting, installation, etc.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Willingness to follow instructions and work under supervision
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work well in a team environment
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site
Education:
High School Diploma or GED. Understands basic math, reading and writing.
Experience:
- Prior experience in construction or general labor is a plus.
- On-the-job training provided for entry-level candidates.
Skills:
- Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in construction
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
Physical Demands:
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds and either place or remove from shelving or a vehicle varying in height from 0-4 feet in height, without assistance.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to carry tools, equipment, and materials around the job site and load and unload materials from trucks.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to stand or walk for extended periods on concrete or uneven surfaces, which can be physically demanding.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to bend, kneel, or crouch while assisting in the install and finishing of drywall or to work at ground level when pouring and finishing concrete.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to use basic hand and power tools to perform tasks such as cutting drywall or operating a hammer drill.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to work in various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind, which can be physically challenging.
- The Laborer position requires a qualified individual to drive long distances to various jobsites and must be able to sit for long periods of time based on differing traffic and travel distances.
Certifications:
- Valid California Driver's License required.
- Ability to pass a background check for access to secured project sites (e.g., Boeing, Northrop, Grumman).
- No certifications required at entry level; OSHA 10 or 30 are a plus.
