Construction Laborer

The Construction Laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. The role requires the ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and small equipment. Responsibilities include site cleaning and preparation, digging trenches, setting braces for excavations, erecting scaffolding, debris cleanup, and waste removal. The candidate will also be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport materials and equipment to and from construction sites.

Responsibilities:

• Operate jackhammers, drills, and various power tools.
• Position, join, align, and seal structural components such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate machinery and material movement.
• Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools and machinery.
• Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
• Build and dismantle forms for pouring concrete using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
• Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth to grade specifications.
• Load, unload, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools according to project plans.
• Measure, mark, and record openings and distances for construction work.
• Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications.
• Drive trucks carrying materials and equipment to job sites.
• Assist in excavation tasks such as hand digging, breaking out concrete or asphalt, and shoring underground excavations.
• Haul materials and clean debris from work sites.
• Control traffic around work zones as directed.
• If assigned a company vehicle, maintain, clean, and report maintenance needs.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a construction laborer or similar role.
• Ability to operate construction equipment and tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong safety awareness and understanding of safety protocols.
• Physically capable of manual labor in various weather conditions, able to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork ability.
• This position requires traveling 2-5 days a week with hotel accommodations and per diem.
• Overtime, night, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
• Ability to perform night maintenance and emergency callouts.
• Experience in telecommunications is a plus but not required.
• Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record; Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
