Job summary

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced underwriter to manage a multi-state Key Accounts portfolio in the Virginia and North Carolina regions. Qualifications

• 5 years of construction-specific underwriting experience in middle market and large accounts preferred.
• Knowledge of large account marketing and underwriting, including awareness of loss sensitive programs, wrap-ups and contractor coverage concepts.
• Analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong understanding of the life cycle on construction projects.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
• Understanding of portfolio management and balancing growth and profit dynamics to meet targets.
• Self-starter with creative thinking and opportunity creation.
• Willingness to travel roughly 25% (day trips and occasional overnight).

Responsibilities

• Manage a territory of guaranteed cost and loss sensitive business as a life-cycle underwriter above $250,000 in New Business and $500,000 for renewals.
• Responsible for new business production goals and renewal book of larger Key Accounts.
• Engage with partner agents and brokers to drive revenue for Key Account size business.
• Collaborate with local field marketing reps to drive submission activity.
• Understand agency planning process and impact of contingency/supplemental commissions.
• Articulate contractor risk management implications and exposures.
• Evaluate contractor exposures and controls, and analyze loss models.
• Price business to achieve positive returns within the company risk appetite.
• Negotiate renewals to meet unit goals and conditions.
• Engage insureds with stewardship service plans addressing claims and risk needs.
• Mentor less experienced underwriters.
