Job summary

Landmark Properties in Ann Arbor, MI is offering a Construction Intern position embedded in active field projects. The internship provides hands-on exposure to project management processes on site.

You will learn budgeting, submittal coordination, RFI logs, daily logs, and progress photos while supporting subcontractors and the project team to keep on schedule and costs in check. • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science or Architecture preferred.
• 1+ year of applicable coursework completed.

Responsibilities

• Learn Landmark processes and procedures for project management.
• Assist with safety and quality management program adherence and contractor compliance.
• Help manage project budget by tracking expenditures and coordinating billings.
• Maintain RFI logs and change request logs.
• Assist with submittals, shop drawings, and schedule impacting documents.
• Complete daily logs, status reports and meeting minutes.
• Document progress photos and assist with closeout documentation.
• Participate in team meetings and promote professional communication on the project.

Job description

Duties / Responsibilities

The duties listed below are an outline of the role’s responsibilities and should not be considered an all-inclusive list. As the needs of the organization change, these duties may be modified as needed.

Construction Interns will learn about:

• Landmark processes and procedures as they relate to managing the project.


• Landmark safety and quality management programs and ensure contractor compliance.


• Managing the project budget by controlling expenditures, coordinating billings, and identifying work not covered by subcontractor.


• How to maintain RFI logs and change request log.

Construction interns will assist with:

• Ensuring the overall success of costs and schedule.


• Reviewing and processing submittal data and shop drawings.


• Coordinating submittals, RFI’s, deliveries and inspections, along with analyzing how they affect the project schedule.


• Completing daily logs, status reports and weekly subcontractor meeting minutes.


• Change requests, change proposals for price reviews.


• Documenting and taking progress photos of job site.


• Resolving punch-list issues prior to occupancy.


• Obtaining occupancy of the project.


• Maintaining closeout log and obtaining all closeout documents, warranties and log information.


• Obtaining Certificate of Substantial Completion.


• Assembling and preparing final record documents for the project at the conclusion of the job and store them in a secure location.


• Participate in team meetings.


• Maintain the highest possible professionalism at all times and promote good relations and communications on the project.


• Recognize, report, and solve problems in a creative, positive, constructive way and make recommendations for improvements in systems, procedures, and policies.

Education & Experience

Seeking a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science or Architecture preferred. 1+ year of applicable coursework.

Pay

The pay for this position is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour depending on a variety of factors including market factors in the geographical location where the candidate lives.
