Job summary

Jacobs in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team and help deliver water infrastructure projects. The role focuses on inspecting civil and MEP trades, reviewing drawings, tracking changes, and ensuring compliance with contract documents in the field.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of inspection experience in civil infrastructure or water/utility projects, preferably with water/wastewater exposure.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience inspecting civil and MEP trades for civil infrastructure, structural and building projects.
• Water/wastewater utility experience preferred, but candidates from other sectors will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings, plans, and specs; inspect active work for compliance and report deviations.
• Prepare daily field reports detailing work status, activities, manpower, and equipment.
• Maintain redline set reflecting changes during construction.
• Identify non-compliant work and coordinate with Project Manager/Owner to resolve.
• Capture site photos/videos and organize them with dates and references.
• Verify quantities, materials, and contractor resources.
• Review monthly progress payment requests and support administration.
• Attend progress and coordination meetings and lead pre-installation/RFI meetings.

We’re seeking a Construction Inspector to join our teaminMilwaukee, Wisconsin. Someone who can use their experience in the water industry and apply it to today’s challenges. As a valued Jacobs employee, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve successful construction of water treatment facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Review approved shop drawings, construction plans, and specifications and inspect active work against the approved contract documents to verify compliance, or identify any deviation from approved plans, then elevate to the Project Manager and/or Owner.
• Prepare a daily field report documenting the status of the work, daily activities (including start and finish dates for CPM activities), manpower, equipment, and other observations.
• Maintain a continuous redline set of plans and specifications reflecting all changes made during construction.
• Identify non-compliant/deficient work, elevate to the Project Manager and/or Owner, and coordinate with the contractor through resolution.
• Take photographs and videos of pre-construction conditions and major construction activities. Prepare a database of the photographs with the date, subject matter, and photo number/file name.
• Verify quantities of work performed, materials used, and adequacy of the contractor’s resources.
• Verify time and materials expense reports from the construction contractor.
• Proactively notify the Project Manager of potential construction problems.
• Attend construction progress and coordination meetings.
• Lead construction pre-installation and RFI coordination meetings.
• Verify that the contractor’s record drawings are current.
• Review monthly contractor’s progress payment requests.
• Facilitate, attend, and observe 3rd party material testing as required.
• Monitor the status of erosion control devices on a weekly basis, and after every major rainfall event.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft suite of software, Bluebeam and ability to learn construction document management systems.
• Collaborative, team oriented perspective.
• Attention to detail and disciplined time management skills
• This role will require extended periods of time spent in the field and the ability to commute daily to field site/office of current assignment.
• The ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and to react to change in a fast-paced environment.

Here’s what you'll need

• Minimum of 4 years of experience inspecting civil and MEP trades for civil infrastructure, structural and building projects.
• Water/wastewater utility experience, but will consider those with experience from other sectors.

Ideally, you'll also have

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil, chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering
• Experience working in/for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations on public right of way construction project sites.
• Experience inspecting of electrical installations
• Experience installing or inspecting large diameter force main installations.
• Certifications through ICC, ACI, or AWS other Special Inspection areas.

The base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $105,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
