Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on various construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency PM and informs contractors of variances from plans.
• Takes samples, prepares test specimens, and assists in field tests.
• Checks location of public utilities to avoid interference with work.
• Checks roadway, slope, structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures.
• Reviews contractor's traffic control plans and field traffic control; reviews project safety.
• Inspects earthwork grading, asphalt concrete placement, proportions and mix control.
• Inspects delivery, placement and curing of concrete and reinforcement placement.
• Assists PM in review of submittals, RFIs, CCOs.
• Verifies material acceptability via certificates, shop drawings, test reports.
• Maintains material and inspection records and a daily diary.

Job description

BKF is hiring a Construction Inspector to execute onsite construction inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assist in conducting field tests, or refers samples for laboratory analysis
• Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work
• Checks roadway/slope/structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures
• Reviews contractor's traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety
• Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes
• Inspects delivery, placing, and curing of concrete and the placing of reinforcing steel
• Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFI's, CCO's
• Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project by Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports
• Maintains material and inspection records
• Maintains a daily diary, photo log, contract item quantities
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• College degree or minimum 5 years' work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects
• 4 + years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required

• The typical base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location, hourly wage
