Job summary

Remington & Vernick Engineers in King of Prussia, PA is seeking an Inspector with 5-10 years of field experience to lead and mentor staff on highway and bridge projects. You will enforce local municipality specifications and coordinate with contractors.

This full-time role requires reading plans, performing QC tests, and documenting daily activities while ensuring safety and quality. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction observation or related experience.
  • Strong ability to manage and mentor staff.
  • Experience reading construction plans, specs, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of enforcing municipal specifications and procedures.
  • NICET/NECEPT certifications are a plus; OSHA-10/30 is a plus.

Candidate must also have a strong background in dealing with construction site contractors and the ability to enforce local municipality specifications and procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, schedules, and procedures is required.
  • Documentation of daily construction activities, which includes the measurement and calculation of pay quantities is required.
  • Must be able demonstrate the ability to perform quality control testing on highway and bridge materials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on various; municipal; county; PennDOT or PTC; and/or heavy highway and bridge projects.
  • Must have the ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Candidate must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks; which includes walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Position may require overnight travel. Position is subject to seasonal layoff.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction observation or construction experience directly related to one of the following disciplines: water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and water / wastewater treatment systems, and roadway construction.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Microsoft outlook.
Certifications/Licenses Required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • NICET Certification a plus
  • NECEPT Certification is a plus
  • Work Zone Safety
The employee may also be required to accrue and/ or renew the following certifications at the discretion of the Department Head after the date of hire
  • NICET – Highway Construction
  • ACI - Field Technician Certification
  • NECEPT
  • New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technicians - Field Testing
  • OSHA - 10/30
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

The annual base salary range for this full-time position in the United States is $55,000 - $82,500. This range represents a good faith estimate and is based on factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. The range shown reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all U.S. locations.

Within this range, individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
