Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of Construction Observation experience. They will provide construction inspection for municipal, county, state, and federal projects, including transportation authority and agency work such as water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems, storm sewer systems, and roadway construction.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Act as Project Representative to assist the Engineer in providing extensive observation of construction projects and serve as the Engineer’s liaison with the Contractor.
  2. Attend pre-construction and weekly job progress meetings.
  3. Conduct on-site inspections of ongoing work to assist the Engineer in ensuring compliance with the Contract Documents.
  4. Maintain all records related to the project, including daily quantities.
  5. Keep a diary or log of all inspections and activities, and provide daily reports to the Engineer, including all labor trades and equipment used by the Contractor.
  6. Review payment applications with the Contractor and discuss progress payment recommendations with the Engineer.
  7. Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform a final review for project closeout.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with others and the public.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and focused.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • NICET Certification (a plus).
  • NECEPT Bituminous Certification (a plus).
  • NECEPT Concrete Field Technician Certification (a plus).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing this job, the employee may work in the field exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The job requires frequent and prolonged computer use and may involve occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
