Responsibilities

1. Review contract plans, specifications, contractors’ schedules, and plans, as well as applicable safety regulations and current shop and working drawings related to assigned contract duties.
2. Understand and comply with the current Metrorail Safety Rules and Procedures Handbook (MSRPH).
3. Oversee inspections of the Metrorail tunnels and shafts to determine the quality of workmanship and materials, ensuring conformity to contract documents and applicable codes.
4. Observe work operations for safety compliance and recognize unsafe practices, requesting corrections as needed.
5. Document daily construction activities, including equipment, materials, and change orders, on reports as instructed.
6. Monitor contractors’ progress against schedules and record on inspection reports.
7. Record on-site equipment and manpower.
8. Conduct Substantial Completion and Final Acceptance Inspections.
9. Prepare punch-lists and worklists before inspections.
10. Monitor and record correction of deficiencies.
11. Manage Crew Support Personnel (CSP), Track Access and Switch Orders, and coordinate WMATA equipment and work train requests.
12. Perform on-site material testing as required and other duties assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of experience in construction engineering, inspection, and testing for large infrastructure projects, including 5 years in mechanical rehabilitation projects.
• Ability to read and interpret complex contract documents, plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Experience with welding, non-destructive testing, and concrete testing as applicable.
• Certification in general building construction, inspection, or code enforcement from a recognized organization such as the American Construction Inspector's Association.

Salary Range

$56,000 to $86,000 annually
