Job summary

Acorn Engineering, a Maine-based, 100% employee‑owned civil engineering firm, is hiring for the Construction Inspector Internship, Class I. The role runs May–August on MaineDOT projects and may require overtime, overnight, and weekend work.

Interns perform measurement and documentation, compute quantities, conduct basic field tests, and support a resident inspector.

Strong communication skills and a willingness to work outdoors are essential, with a valid driver's license a must.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions, to perform tasks independently and to produce neat and accurate reports.
• Commitment to working with integrity and in an ethical manner.
• Ability to maintain safe work practices in a fast-paced work environment.
• Dependable and willing to work 10+ hours a day outdoors and on your feet.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for daily transportation.
• Anyone with an interest in construction (inclusive of all majors) are encouraged to apply.

Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture firm, is hiring for the upcoming Construction Season (May – August). Those seeking internship experience are encouraged to apply. The Class I Inspector is assigned to a single daily operation on Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) construction projects and will support the Class III or Resident Inspector on the job. There are opportunities throughout the state of Maine and they may require overtime, overnight and/or weekend work.
