About This Position:
The Construction Inspector III is qualified to independently perform, test, inspect, and record project operations with a high degree of complexity. The Inspector III must have demonstrated ability to perform effectively in the field and in the office with minimal supervision/oversight in all phases of construction. They should have the experience and skills to interpret plans, specifications, and standards across various areas (drainage, water, sewer, materials, etc.) and justify minor field adjustments. They will use judgment and logic within their duties, requiring guidance only outside standard practice. The Inspector III may supervise a small team of inspection staff and work on medium projects or parts of larger projects, including highway, bridge, roundabout, and traffic signal projects.

Job Requirements:
Field experience and successful completion of NICET Level III testing and requirements. Per NYSDOT policy, equivalent qualifications include previous employment by NYSDOT as a JE/PET or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or approved equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years of highway construction inspection or related field experience and current NICET Level III certification or approved equivalent are required. Familiarity with NYSDOT specifications, MURK reporting, and certifications like ACI and NETTCP are preferred. Computer skills are required; knowledge of Site Manager and/or APPIA software is a plus.
Pay Range: $49.68/hour - $68.28/hour, commensurate with experience.
