Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector 2 to work independently on less complex construction activities and assist experienced inspectors on a range of roadway and bridge projects.

The role requires detailed documentation, communication, problem resolution, safety adherence, and willingness to work in varied weather and night shifts. The candidate will perform field inspections, prepare reports, and ensure contractor compliance with contract specifications.

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in construction inspection or related field.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently.
  • Teamwork and daily reporting responsibilities, both on paper and computer.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and timely reports documenting construction progress, inspection, and testing results.
  • Record and report daily forms per project requirements.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Maintain records, measure field quantities, and conduct field tests to verify contractor compliance.
  • Submit timesheets, mileage, and expense reports on time weekly.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors.
  • Resolve problems at the lowest level.
  • Perform field construction inspection on various projects and ensure safety compliance.
  • Review site safety daily and address issues as needed.
  • Adhere to OSHA standards and client requirements.

Job Summary

The Construction Inspector 2 works independently on less complex construction activities and assists experienced inspectors on complex assignments on active roadway and bridge construction projects. This role involves detailed documentation, communication, problem resolution, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining certifications. The individual must be physically capable of performing field inspections and willing to work in various weather conditions, including potential night shifts and varied work schedules.

Key Responsibilities
Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare detailed and timely reports to document construction progress, inspection, and testing results.
  • Record and report daily forms per project requirements.
  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting.
  • Maintain necessary records, measure field quantities, conduct field tests, and other tests as required to determine contractors’ compliance with contract specifications.
  • Submit accurate timesheets, mileage, and expense reports on time each week.
Communication and Coordination
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors.
  • Resolve problems at the lowest level.
Inspection and Compliance
  • Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on various commercial, municipal, institutional, and/or heavy highway and bridge projects.
  • Review job site safety daily and take immediate action to document and resolve issues.
  • Understand and adhere to OSHA safety standards and corporate policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards and client requirements.

Education and Skills Required

Preferred Experience

Experience working in a construction‑related field.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass and maintain required certifications
  • Pre‑employment drug screening is a condition of employment; background and motor‑vehicle checks may be required depending on the position
